Grief Counseling
Grief is a valid and natural process. Hospice SLO County offers supportive grief counseling to anyone in our community who is grieving a death, whether the loss occurred yesterday or twenty years ago.
Anticipatory grief counseling is also available to support individuals facing their death or the death of a loved one, offered at any time after diagnosis.
Grief counseling sessions typically provide clients with both emotional support and information, as well as an opportunity to explore how they can more effectively navigate these challenges.
Grief counselors are available for adults, children, and families.
Our grief counselors bring decades of in-depth grief and bereavement experience to support our clients. With backgrounds in counseling, peer support, spiritual care, end-of-life planning, and education, each counselor draws from a diverse range of tools to help clients explore loss, reframe struggles, and shift towards acceptance and peace. While we provide in-house training for new counselors, many have independently pursued certifications with experts like Dr. Alan Wolfelt and David Kessler to continually expand and fine tune their skills.
All services are provided free of charge. Donations are gratefully accepted.
